Description

These crispy sweet potato puffs are the perfect bite-sized snack with a golden, crunchy exterior and a soft, flavorful inside. Made with mashed sweet potatoes, cheese, and seasonings, they’re a healthier alternative to fried appetizers. Bake or air-fry for a delicious, guilt-free treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and mashed
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free alternative)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs (for coating)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the sweet potatoes: Bake or boil sweet potatoes until soft, then mash them in a bowl.
  • Mix the ingredients: Add grated parmesan, flour, egg, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the mashed sweet potatoes. Stir well to form a dough-like consistency.
  • Shape the puffs: Using your hands, roll the mixture into small bite-sized balls.
  • Coat the puffs: Roll each ball in panko breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  • Arrange and bake: Place coated puffs onto the baking sheet and lightly brush with olive oil.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, air-fry at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes instead of baking.
  • To make them gluten-free, use almond flour and gluten-free breadcrumbs.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
